Pets in Peril - Homeless but have a Pet?
Pets in Peril
Pets in Peril mainly assist people experiencing domestic violence but they may make an exception or they will be able to refer you elsewhere.
Also, in some crisis accommodation places, if you get a letter from you Dr saying your dog is an emotional assistance dog, they will usually be ok with that and let you keep it with you. But that varies greatly with what kind of accommodation you're in and the organisation.

Homelessness Entry Points in Victoria
The Victorian Homelessness System is run under an "Opening Doors" Framework.
Which means it has a limited number of designated access points into the homelessness system making it more efficient and coordinated.
These access points assess your needs, prioritise you then connect you with the appropriate services.
When you call, they will take your name and details and arrange for you to see an Intake Worker. It may take a few days for them to get you in. But if you're in crisis and don't have shelter, you need to tell them that and they will assist you by getting you into crisis accommodation straight away, or arranging a motel for you if there's no crisis places currently available.
Sometimes, worst case scenario, there may be nothing available or they don't have the funds to get a motel for you, so please ask them if they have any swags (a backpack that can become a bed/shelter for you). Then call back or go into the office the next day.
When you eventually see the intake worker, they will ask you a heap of questions. They need to do it so they can understand your situation and refer you to the most appropriate services. Please answer truthfully.
